Young Sprouts in the Garden
Master Gardeners of Greene County, Ozarks Harvesting Hope, Springfield Ad Club and Springfield Greene-County Parks and Recreation have partnered to host kids and their families for “Young Sprouts in the Garden.” It will be held Saturday, May 30 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Nathanael Greene Park, 2400 S. This community educational event is to promote and encourage an interest in gardening for children and teens, and to also foster an appreciation and respect for how we relate to plants and our environment. Interactive exhibits and booths will offer a chance to learn about or participate in activities such as planting a seed, botany rubbings, insects, conservation, weather, trees, recycling, vegetable gardening and more.
Participants to date include: Ozarks Harvesting Hope, Master Gardeners of Greene County, Discovery Center, Rutledge-Wilson Farm Community Park, Wild Birds Unlimited, James River Basin Partnership, Greene County 4-H, Show Me Yards & Neighborhoods, Springfield Conservation Nature Center, All About Trees, St. John’s Children’s Hospital, Friends of the Garden, Springfield-Greene County Library District, USDA-NRCS South Missouri Water Quality Project, OTC Turf & Landscape Management Program/PLANET Chapter, Beecharmer Farms & Beekeepers of the Ozarks and the National Weather Service.
