To determine how our community can become a center for excellence in sustainability.

Sustainability: A Definition

A sustainable society meets the needs of the present without sacrificing the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

The Partnership for Sustainability is committed to collaborating with one another and with the community to optimize efforts in being good stewards through integration of the elements of sustainability: environmental health, economic health, and social health.

An Advisory Council comprised of environmental, economic and social experts will assist in the development of strategies to accomplish our mission to identify and ensure that the needs of our community are met.

Strategies in development include:

• A clearinghouse for information, events, opportunities, sources – local, state, national, global
• Determining the optimal way to disseminate information and provide education
• Assessing and identifying indicators and measures to insure accountability of efforts
• Optimizing efforts by facilitating, coordinating and identifying collaborative opportunities
• Providing a venue where successes and challenges for developing best practices and sustainability plans can be shared and exchanged
• Developing a community sustainability plan
